Enjoy eight days and seven nights at the lovely Soulshine Retreat Center created by Michael Franti and Carla Swanson (Video links at end of page). Each day you will enjoy two Yoga classes in the open air Yoga studio overlooking the rice fields with Melissa and Wendelin. After your morning Yoga class and breakfast, you are then free to enjoy the surroundings of the retreat center or go into the art center and healing village of Ubud. You can enjoy the restaurants, shops, art galleries, temples, palace, spas and market.

Bali is considered one of the most spiritual places on earth, with a rich and unique cultural and religious heritage. It is the perfect place to deepen into oneself and take in the beauty Bali offers to the soul.

Matahari - Sunrise Morning Yoga Practice 7-9:30am

This class will be more dynamic in nature, with the time of the rising sun. Expect to explore a full spectrum of asana practice. This may include mindful vinyasa and namaskars, alignment based asana instruction incorporating both therapeutic and Ayurvedic perspectives, supported or active inversions - both free-flowing and structured practices will be guided to help one deepen into discovering their own unique practice. Yoga and Balinese philosophy will be woven into the themes of the classes to help enrich and deepen the inner process of practice and place. Modifications and adjustments are given to accommodate the individual needs of each student.

Bulan ~ Moonrise Evening Yoga 4:30-6:30pm

This class will incorporate a slower Yoga practice and may include yin yoga, restorative yoga, pranayama, and meditative practices. This is a quiet and reflective practice to complete and integrate your day.

About Melissa & Wendelin

Melissa Spamer, M.A. ERYT 500, C. Ay.

Melissa has been teaching Yoga for 20 years, on five continents. She has led advanced teacher trainings, retreats, special workshops, and weekly classes. She has completed over six teacher trainings herself, and has specialized training in Yoga Therapy, Ayurveda, Vinyasa, and Alignment based asana practices. She has also studied extensively with Angela Farmer, Victor Van Kooten, and Rama Vernon - some of the first Western Yoga teachers, all of whom have inspired a rich tapestry of creative, highly energetic, and in depth knowledge of Yoga which she weaves throughout her classes. She has been traveling to Indonesia since 1995, and considers it to be her spiritual home. In 2006 she moved to Bali and led the first Yoga Alliance approved Yoga teacher training for entirely Balinese students and certified some of the first Indonesian Yoga teachers, who are now teaching around the island of Bali. She loves to share the great beauty, magic, and wonder that is alive in Bali with others. She holds incredible passion for the people and island life of Bali which is unlike any other in the world. Aside from teaching Yoga regularly, she is also a licensed counselor and Ayurvedic practitioner, living happily in Santa Fe, New Mexico.




Wendelin Scott, M.A.

Wendelin co-owns YogaSouce in Santa Fe, NM and has been teaching Yoga for eighteen years. Her instruction emphasizes understanding and experiencing the relationship between physical alignment and spiritual unfoldment. Her Yogic studentship began in 1995 and has included multiple Teacher Trainings as well as ongoing mentorship with her beloved teachers, Kofi Busia, Shubhraji, Arunji, Paul Cabanis, and Tito La Rosa. She has been teaching Yoga in the ways in which she has been taught by her teachers - simply, directly and with joy. Her classes and instruction facilitate an integration of mind, body and spirit through well-rounded asana practice. Her classes bring both a depth of knowledge about the alignment and symbolic meaning of each asana, as well as the rich, spiritually transformative potential of practice. She additionally has a Masters in Eastern Classics and Sanskrit from St. John’s College. 


Accommodation & Cost:

There are four tiers of accommodation for your comfort and budget. All rooms have air conditioning as well as plenty of open air breeze. The shared rooms can be set up as two twin beds or one king bed, with the exception of two deluxe double rooms in Terrace Villa. There are private bathrooms adjoining each room. Please indicate your roommate preference on the registration form. If you do not have a roommate preference we can assign a roommate for you.

Travel Information and Expenses Not Included:

You are responsible to purchase your own roundtrip airfare to and from Denpasar, Bali.

An included taxi transfer from the airport or between hotels will be arranged directly through Soulshine.

It is recommended that you purchase your own travel insurance.

Upon departure you will need to pay a departure tax of USD 15.

Be sure your passport is up-to-date, and does not expire within six months of your departure date from Bali.

There are no travel vaccinations required to travel to Bali, other than an updated tetanus shot.

The retreat will begin the afternoon of September 8th at 4pm and end the morning of September 15th at 11am.

If you must cancel your retreat, the required deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, unless we can fill your spot with another participant, given sufficient time.

Full refund, less deposit, will be given before 90 days notice of retreat start date.

Cancellations made within 90 days of your retreat: 50% of the total amount (less deposit) will be refunded.

Cancellations made within 60 days of your retreat: We apologize, but absolutely no refunds can be given, no exceptions.

Join Donna Farhi and Clinical Ayurvedic practitioner and teacher Melissa Spamer for a life-changing week in southern Spain.  Learn and experience how the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda can be incorporated into your everyday life to bring back that inner glow that is the hallmark of radiant health.  Drawn from the ancient wisdom teachings of India, Ayurveda is the science of living in balance with nature.  By attuning ourselves with our unique feminine rhythms and cycles we can restore ourselves to vibrant health, calm the mind, and build a clearer connection with our personal goals and visions for our life.

This is a retreat for women of all ages.

Each day of the retreat will begin with a silent meditation (optional for those of you who are not early risers. . . ), followed by an active morning Yoga class.  Morning asana practice will focus on gentle warming and hydrating practices that loosen and release the body as well as strengthening and stabilising sequences.  In the afternoons we will focus on Restorative Yoga practices for all phases of a women’s life as well as the deeply nourishing practice of Yoga Nidra (a guided meditation technique designed to move you into a profound state of relaxation and self awareness).

But that’s just for starters!

Our special guest, Melissa Spamer will introduce you to simple daily Ayurvedic practices that can have a profound effect on your health.  Each day you’ll learn a new lifestyle practice and will be provided with a special kit to take home to implement these changes.  Afternoon and evening lectures will include an introduction to Ayurveda, understanding and deter mining your unique constitution; Ayurvedic nutrition, and special sessions on Ayurveda for self-care and women’s health, specifically regarding menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. Melissa will also be available for private Ayurvedic consultations.  Vibrant gourmet vegetarian meals support your retreat.  In between sessions treat yourself to a massage with a Suryalila practitioner, relax at the salt water swimming pool, or simply put your feet up and enjoy a good book while basking in the pure air of Andalucia.
